Services in detail

3D and 2D motion design with a clear message.

Motion design is about more than just effects. Great animation guides the eye, explains complex ideas, and leaves a lasting impression. We combine 3D visualization, 2D animation, and motion graphics to deliver a clear message.

Concept and storyboard

We define the message, narrative structure, and length before starting any animation. The storyboard shows you exactly what happens, scene by scene. Production only begins once you have given your approval.

Styleframes

We create key visuals in a variety of styles. This allows you to decide on the look, lighting, and color palette before any time is invested in rendering.

3D modeling and scene building

Custom models instead of stock assets, featuring clean topology and thoughtful camera work. Built so that future variations and new scenes can be created without starting from scratch.

Material, lighting, and rendering

Realistic or stylized surfaces, lighting setups with clear visual impact, and render passes for flexible post-production. Output in any resolution you need.

Product visualization

Showcase your products, even if a prototype doesn't exist yet. Cross-sections and exploded views reveal what’s inside.

2D animation and motion graphics

Animated logos, kinetic typography, infographics, and explainer sequences. Available as Lottie files for web and app upon request.

Web and UI motion

Scroll-triggered sequences and transitions built directly into Webflow or your tech stack, with a constant focus on performance.

Sound, editing, and formats

Music and sound design as needed, plus edits for social media, websites, and trade shows. All formats are clearly labeled and delivered.

Questions and answers

Frequently asked questions about motion design.

Motion design is animated design: graphics, typography, logos, or 3D models in motion. Unlike traditional film, nothing is filmed; everything is created on a computer and can be adjusted at any time.

Yes. We use 3D for products, technical subjects, and spatial scenes, and 2D for logo animations, infographics, and motion graphics. We often combine both.

Not necessarily. We can use design data, drawings, or photos as a basis. We’ll clarify exactly what is needed during the briefing. This allows you to showcase images and animations without having to organize a photo shoot.

For websites, social media, trade fairs, presentations, and events. We deliver the formats and aspect ratios you need for your specific channels.

Early on. After the storyboard, we show you style frames, followed by an animatic with timing. This allows you to evaluate the direction and impact before we begin the time-consuming rendering process.

Yes. We integrate scroll-triggered sequences, Lottie animations, and videos directly into Webflow, while ensuring optimal load times and mobile performance.

Yes. We build our models and scenes so that new variants, colors, or campaigns can be implemented without having to start from scratch.

No. Our offices are in Günzburg and Munich, but we work with companies across Germany, the DACH region, and internationally. We coordinate in person or via video call, and we set up a dedicated Slack channel for each project.

Motion Design Guide

Motion design agency for brands that have something to show.

The most important points at a glance: what affects the effort, how we proceed, whether 2D or 3D is the right fit, and how to recognize high-quality work.

What determines the effort of an animation

Every animation is created for its specific purpose. The amount of work involved depends less on the length and more on what needs to be shown. These factors make the difference.

What influences the scope

Length and scenes

How many scenes and camera angles does your story need? Each scene is built, animated, and rendered individually.

2D or 3D

2D animations and motion graphics are faster to produce. Custom 3D models with materials and lighting require more time.

Models and data

Do you have CAD data, drawings, or photos to work from? The better the source material, the faster we can build the model.

Level of detail

Stylized or realistic, with cross-sections or exploded views: the more refined the material, lighting, and movement, the greater the effort.

Formats and channels

Website, social media, trade fairs, or presentations: every edit and aspect ratio is custom-tailored.

Sound and voice

Music, sound design, or voiceovers as needed. Additional versions are created for other languages.

After our initial consultation, you will receive a transparent quote with a fixed scope and no hidden costs. You can see how we work at How we work in motion design.

Why custom models instead of stock assets?

Custom models showcase your product exactly, with clean topology and thoughtful camera work. They are built so that future variations and new scenes can be created without starting from scratch.

What do I receive at handover?

The final renders in all agreed-upon formats, short versions for social media, and the project files for future adjustments. If you want the animation to run on your website and need ongoing support, check out our Growth Packages for maintenance, SEO, GEO, and conversion.

Our motion design process

Every project follows the same process, from the initial concept to the final render. You’ll see how it’s shaping up early on and always know when your input is needed.

  1. Concept

    1. Initial consultation

A no-obligation chat. We’ll look at what you want to showcase, which channels you’re targeting, and whether we’re a good fit.

    2. Onboarding and kickoff

We clarify goals, distribution channels, formats, and project parameters. You’ll also meet your dedicated point of contact.

    3. Concept and storyline

We define the message, dramaturgy, and length before the first animation is created. If sound is involved, planning begins here.

  2. Design

    1. Storyboard

Scene by scene: see what happens, in what order, and at what pace. We only move forward once you’ve given the green light.

    2. Styleframes

Three distinct visual styles as still images, each with a clear rationale behind the approach. You choose the look.

    3. Animatic

The sequence as a rough cut with timing. You get an early look at how the animation works before we commit to time-consuming rendering.

    4. First sequence

A sequence is fully developed. Our satisfaction guarantee applies until this final approval.

  3. Production

    1. Production and refinement

All scenes animated and refined. Lighting, materials, and timing are perfectly tuned, creating a cohesive piece rather than just loose clips.

    2. Feedback and fine-tuning

Each phase includes a clear feedback round. We incorporate your notes before the final render.

  4. Handover

    1. Rendering

Final renders in all the resolutions, codecs, and edits you need.

    2. Delivery and integration

Clean delivery, ready for playback. Upon request, we can integrate the animation directly into your website.

To see what this looks like in practice, check out how we work in motion design and our case study for HyImpulse.

How much time do I need to invest myself?

We keep your workload as low as possible. You are involved at the critical stages: briefing, approvals, and final feedback. We take care of the rest.

How long does a motion design project take?

That depends on the length, level of detail, and your approval process. We establish the schedule together at the start, with clear milestones. This way, you always know what comes next.

What happens if I don't like the initial designs?

That’s what our satisfaction guarantee is for. If you aren't convinced after the style frames and the first sequence, you get a full refund of your deposit.

2D or 3D?

Both can convey a message. The deciding factor is what needs to be shown and where the animation will be displayed. We often combine both in a single project.

Spatial and realistic

A good fit if

  • you want to showcase a product or technology, even without a prototype
  • the inner workings need to be visible via cross-sections or exploded views
  • material, lighting, and perspective are important
  • you need images for web, print, and trade shows from a single model
HyImpulse 3D Case →
Graphic and flexible

A good fit if

  • you want to bring your logo or brand assets to life with motion
  • you want to explain figures, processes, or data through infographics
  • typography and motion graphics carry the message
  • you want the animation to run as a Lottie file on your website or app
How we work →

In both cases, you get motion graphics that work in any format. If you want the animation to run directly on your website, we can integrate it into Webflow or your existing stack. Learn more on our Webflow Agency page.

What about film?

When live-action footage is required, we handle that too—from social clips and documentary-style films like those for Audi, to apprenticeship films like the one for Hoebel. Film and animation can be seamlessly combined in a single project.

What makes for great motion design

Great motion design answers a question before it’s even asked. Only then do effects come into play. These five points determine whether an animation truly works.

Substance over style

Message and narrative come first. Every movement has a purpose: to illustrate a connection, explain a sequence, or guide the viewer's eye.

On-brand

Color, typography, and motion intertwine. This ensures the animation feels like an integral part of your brand rather than an afterthought.

Performance

Web animations and videos are delivered in a way that won't slow down your site: using appropriate formats, compression, and lazy loading.

Accessibility

We respect the "reduce motion" system setting and provide subtitles when needed.

Built to grow

Models and scenes can be reused for new variations, colors, and campaigns without starting from scratch.

You can read about how motion makes a website feel more premium in What makes a website look expensive and in our post about the Awwwards recognition. Our industry pages show what this looks like for aviation, industry, energy, or research.

How to spot a good motion design agency

Before you make a decision, it's worth considering a few points:

  • Real references, ideally featuring products or technology like yours
  • Storyboard and styleframes for approval before animation begins
  • A dedicated point of contact instead of shifting responsibilities
  • Public reviews and independent awards
  • A guarantee in case the direction isn't the right fit

You can read about how we handle this in How we work in motion design.

Checklist: How to prepare for your project

The better the preparation, the faster and more accurate the result. These points will help you before our initial consultation:

  • Goal: What should the animation achieve? Explain, sell, inspire, or attract applicants?
  • Target audience: Who do you want to reach, and what should they know afterward?
  • Examples: Two or three animations you like, and what you like about them
  • Basics: Logo, colors, fonts, and CAD data, drawings, or photos of your product
  • Channels: Where will the animation be shown? Website, social media, trade fairs, or presentations?
  • Length and formats: Rough duration, aspect ratios, and required cuts
  • Budget and timeline: A rough idea helps with planning
  • Decision-makers: Who approves designs and is involved in the project?

Don't worry, you don't need to have everything ready. We'll sort out the rest together during onboarding.
