Web design for energy and cleantech companies
For energy companies, cleantech and project developers who want to make complex technology tangible and convince investors, partners and customers.

What matters in the energy industry
What your target audience really expects.
Energy companies are scrutinized from many sides: by utilities and landowners, by municipalities and public utilities, by investors and partners. They all want to understand quickly what you do and be sure you can do it. Green promises alone aren't enough for that.
B2B decision-makers with little time
Engineering, procurement and management look at different things. The website has to show each of them within seconds whether you're a fit for their project and deliver the rest in a well-organized way.
Municipalities and public partners
Municipalities and public utilities often decide in committees and need content they can pass on internally. Clear project descriptions, fixed contacts and verifiable references make this internal selling easier.
Investors and financiers
Investors want to understand the business model, projects and team. A website that clearly brings together investment, implementation and operation becomes a communication tool, just like at NEXUS.
Technology that needs explaining
Storage, heat recovery, photovoltaics, grids: anyone who isn't an expert needs a clear order. First the problem, then the solution, then the technology. Visualizations often explain faster than any paragraph.
Proof instead of sustainability rhetoric
There are plenty of sustainability promises. You become credible with concrete projects, locations and real images of plants and construction sites. BRIC shows how a brand can put technical expertise in the foreground instead of green imagery.
Putting funding topics in context
Programs and regulations change constantly. Instead of stating figures that quickly become outdated, the website shows where you support customers and who the contact person is. Your team maintains current details in the CMS.
Many target groups, clear paths
Investors, partners, customers and applicants expect different answers. A well-thought-out page structure leads everyone to their section without overloading the homepage.
Fast and stable, even with animation
Technical companies are also judged by their website. We use animations so that the site runs smoothly and loads fast, like for Phasic Energy in Webflow.
What makes things hard for energy companies online.

Complex technology
Storage, heat, hydrogen, grids. If you're not an expert, you often don't understand what your company actually does better.
Many target groups at once
Investors, municipalities, partners, customers and applicants each expect different answers. The website has to reach all of them without becoming overloaded.
Skepticism toward green promises
There are plenty of sustainability promises. A presence only becomes credible when it shows concretely what you do and achieve.
Clarity for an industry full of complexity.
We translate technology into an understandable story and guide each target group straight to its answers. With visualizations that explain processes and a presence that radiates credibility and the future at the same time.

Services in detail
What we build for energy companies.
We translate technology into an understandable story and build a presence that grows with your projects. We tailor these building blocks to your company.
Message and positioning
We work out with you what makes your technology or business model better and phrase it so that non-experts understand it too. That becomes the message for the homepage, service pages and presentations.
Technology explained in the hero
Instead of listing every feature, the opening shows the one moment that makes clear what you do. As an animation, graphic or short sequence, planned in Figma and built in Webflow.
3D and motion for plants
Plants, processes and energy flows often can't be filmed. We visualize them in 3D or as motion graphics, for the website as well as for trade shows, presentations and social media.
Project and reference database
We set up projects, locations and key data as CMS collections. Your team adds new plants themselves, with images, status and description, filterable by technology or region if you like.
Sections for each target group
Separate entry points for investors, municipalities, partners and customers, each with the content they need. That way everyone finds their answers without having to click through everything.
A brand with technical credibility
A look that works on construction sites, vehicles, trade show booths and on screen. Credible and forward-looking, without slipping into interchangeable green imagery.
Careers page for skilled professionals
Projects need engineers, technicians and project managers. A careers page with real insights and open positions from the CMS shows why it's worth switching to you.
Multilingual and findable
Many energy companies work across borders. We build websites with a clean language switcher, separate URLs and SEO settings per language so that Google and AI search place you correctly in every market.

FAQ
How do you explain complex energy technology on a website?
With a clear order: first the problem, then the solution, then the technology. Visualizations and short animations show how something works instead of describing it at length.
Can you present projects and reference plants?
Yes. We set up projects, locations and key data as CMS collections so your team can add new plants themselves.
Do you also work with young companies in the energy sector?
Yes. From young cleantech companies to established providers, we design brands and websites that fit the company's current stage.
How long does a project with Webwavers take?
That depends on the scope. After the initial consultation, you get a timeline with fixed milestones before the project starts. That way you always know what happens next.
What happens if I don't like the design?
If you're not fully convinced after the moodboards and the first design sections, you get your deposit back in full. This guarantee has never been claimed so far.

Guide: energy
Web design for energy companies: complex technology, clearly explained.
The essentials at a glance, in 7 chapters. Jump straight to the topic that's on your mind right now.
Why energy websites have a special task
Energy companies rarely sell something you can hold in your hand. It's about plants, grids, storage, software or entire systems. On top of that come long decision-making processes, many stakeholders and a market in which almost everyone advertises with sustainability.
A website in this industry therefore has to do more than look good. It has to explain what you do, prove that you can do it and guide different target groups cleanly to their answers. If that works, it becomes a tool for sales, partner acquisition and recruiting. If it doesn't, even the best technology looks interchangeable.
Who checks your website
In the energy industry, your website is almost never read by just one person. Typically, it's:
- Technical decision-makers who want to know how your solution works and whether it fits their project.
- Management and procurement, who look at reliability, references and cost-effectiveness.
- Municipalities and public utilities, who decide in committees and need content they can pass on internally.
- Investors and financiers, who want to assess business model, projects and team.
- Skilled professionals, who wonder whether they can work on something meaningful with you.
Serving everyone doesn't mean putting everything on the homepage. Better is a clear overview at the top and then separate paths for each target group. We describe what a B2B website has to deliver for this in our post What a B2B website has to deliver.
Explaining technology without overwhelming
The most common mistake on energy websites: they start with the technology. That's exciting for experts, but everyone else drops off. A simple order has proven itself.
- The problem: What challenge does your customer have, for example unused waste heat or rising power demand?
- The solution: What changes when they work with you?
- The technology: How does it work in detail? For everyone who wants to dig deeper.
One moment instead of every feature
In the hero, it's not the complete list that counts but the one moment that makes clear what you do. We show what that can look like for a complex product in our guide A hero that explains complex software instantly. The principle transfers directly to energy technology.
Visualize instead of describe
Graphics, 3D and short animations often explain plants and processes faster than a long paragraph. For Phasic Energy, a startup for AI-powered heat recovery, that was exactly the point: conveying technical depth without overwhelming visitors. You'll find more on visualizations under Motion Design.
Credibility instead of green promises
Sustainable, innovative, forward-looking: these words are on almost every energy website. That's exactly why they don't convince anyone anymore. A presence only becomes credible when it shows concretely what you do.
- Real projects with location, scope and your company's role
- Real images of plants, construction sites and team instead of generic wind turbines at sunset
- Certifications and partners, visible and verifiable
- Contacts with a face, so the brand becomes people
For BRIC, an EPC partner for large photovoltaic plants, we carried this all the way into the brand. The identity deliberately avoids ecological imagery and presents itself as an infrastructure company with industrial precision. Which trust elements really work on websites, you can read in our post on the topic.
Integrating funding topics and regulations correctly
Funding programs, feed-in tariffs and legal requirements are an important topic for many customers. At the same time, they change frequently. Specific figures or deadlines on the website quickly become outdated and then tend to look unprofessional.
We recommend a different approach: the website explains which topics you support customers with, how that process works and who to contact. Current details sit in a separate section or in posts your team maintains itself in the CMS. That way the site stays accurate without needing a developer for every change.
Common questions are best answered in an FAQ section. It helps visitors and, with structured data, is also better understood by Google and AI assistants.
Startup or established provider
A young cleantech company often needs clarity for investors and first customers above all. An established provider is more likely to need to organize many services, locations and target groups. We design brand and website to match the company's current stage, so the presence looks neither bigger nor smaller than your company is.
Structure for projects, locations and markets
Many energy companies grow with every project. The website should be able to reflect that without being rebuilt for every new entry.
Projects as a system
We set up projects, locations and key data as CMS collections. Your team adds new plants themselves, and every project page follows the same clear template.
Structuring complex companies clearly
For NEXUS, the website connects water treatment, renewable energy, greenhouse technology and digital infrastructure into an understandable story for investors, partners and public institutions.
Careers as a section of its own
Skilled professionals choose employers whose projects they understand. A careers page with real insights into plants and team and open positions from the CMS is therefore not an add-on but part of the website strategy.
Several languages
If you work internationally, you need clean language versions with separate URLs and SEO settings. We plan for that from the start. Our pages on SEO and GEO show how to stay findable for the long term.
How we approach energy projects
- Initial consultation: We understand your business model, your technology and your most important target groups.
- Onboarding and message: With our questionnaire, we clarify goals and content and get your technology to the point.
- Design: Moodboards and first design sections. If they don't convince you, you get your deposit back.
- Visualization and build: Graphics, animations and the website in Webflow are created as one connected system.
- Launch and training: We go live together and show your team how to maintain projects and posts themselves.
You'll find all steps in detail on the page about our process.
How much time do I have to invest myself?
We keep your effort as low as possible. You're involved at the decisive points: briefing, approvals and final feedback. We take care of the rest.
Are there ongoing costs after launch?
Yes, for hosting and platform licenses, for example the Webflow site plan. If you want to hand off maintenance, updates and further development, there are our growth packages for maintenance, SEO, GEO and conversion.
