Key takeaways
- The default values (industry, 12 pages, 8 page types, 2 languages, Webflow) give around 263 project hours and typically about €31,500 net, range €20,000 to €47,500
- Published ranges for mid-sized company relaunches are €12,000 to €65,000 (Pragma-Code, 2026)
- Template customization comes to a typical €23,000, design with motion or 3D to about €42,000
- Technology shifts the typical total from €31,500 (Webflow) to €34,500 (WordPress), €42,000 (TYPO3) and €49,000 (headless CMS), the factors are assumptions
- Page types drive the price more than the page count, the result is a market range and not a quote
What a website relaunch costs depends mostly on page count, number of page types, design level, technology, languages and features. The calculator turns these inputs into project hours and values them at market rates. The result is a range you can compare with quotes. It is not a quote.
How the calculator works
The calculator first estimates the effort in hours and then values it in euros. That way you can see where a total comes from.
- Concept: 20 hours. If the branding is newly developed, 30 hours are added.
- Design: 20 hours for the first page type, plus 6 hours for each additional one.
- Development: 8 hours for the first page type, plus 5 hours for each additional one.
- Content: Pages times 1 hour (copy exists), 2.5 hours (copy is revised) or 5 hours (completely new).
- Collections: 6 hours per CMS collection, meaning blog, case studies, jobs or products.
- Features: Form with tracking 4, member area 50, shop 100, configurator 80, interface 30, accessibility review under the Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG) 20 hours.
- Languages: 25 percent of development, content and collections for each additional language.
- Factors: The subtotal is multiplied by the design factor (template customization 0.7, custom design 1.0, design with motion or 3D 1.35), the technology factor (Webflow 1.0, WordPress 1.1, TYPO3 1.35, headless 1.6) and the industry factor.
- Migration: (16 hours + 0.04 hours per old URL) times the industry's migration factor. This covers redirect mapping, crawl, quality assurance and monitoring.
- Project management: 10 percent on everything.
The sum of hours is valued at three hourly rates. Low uses 85 percent of the hours and €90, typical uses 100 percent and €120, high uses 120 percent of the hours and €150. All values are net. The hourly rates are market assumptions and can be changed in the calculator. They are not Webwavers prices.
Example calculation
| Baustein | Stunden |
|---|---|
| Konzept | 20 |
| Design (20 + 7 × 6) | 62 |
| Entwicklung (8 + 7 × 5) | 43 |
| Inhalte (12 × 2,5) | 30 |
| Collections (2 × 6) | 12 |
| Formular mit Tracking | 4 |
| Zweite Sprache (25 % von 85) | 21 |
| Zwischensumme | 192 |
| Faktor Branche 1,15 (Gestaltung und Technik je 1,0) | +29 |
| Migration (16 + 60 × 0,04) × 1,0 | 18 |
| Projektsteuerung 10 % | 24 |
| Gesamt | 263 |
Result: €20,000 (low), €31,500 (typical), €47,500 (high), each net. The three biggest cost drivers here are design (around 71 hours), development (around 49 hours) and content (around 35 hours).
Assumptions and sources
Every assumption carries a status. G means the source is verified. A means an assumption based on experience and market plausibility, which you should check against your own quotes.
| Annahme | Wert | Quelle | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
Rest Annahme | A |
| Zusätzliche Sprache | 25 % von Entwicklung, Inhalten und Collections | Kolonell nennt dagegen 40 bis 60 % des Website-Budgets je Sprache (Zielmarkt Afrika und Europa, anderer Zuschnitt) | A, Abweichung siehe Grenzen |
| Barrierefreiheit (BFSG) | 20 Stunden Prüfung | Görg: BFSG gilt grundsätzlich im B2C, Kleinstunternehmen mit Dienstleistungen sind ausgenommen | Rechtslage G, Stunden A |
| Weiterleitungen und Migration | 16 Stunden plus 0,04 Stunden je URL | Google Search Central beschreibt 301-Weiterleitungen, URL-Mapping, hreflang und Sitemap als Kern jedes Umzugs. Stunden sind Annahme | Vorgehen G, Stunden A |
| Faktoren je Branche | siehe Tabelle unten | Marktplausibilität | A |
| Projektsteuerung | 10 % | Erfahrungswert | A |
What relaunches cost on the market
For comparison, here is a look at published ranges. They differ widely because providers scope projects differently.
| Projekt | Spanne | Quelle |
|---|---|---|
The sources are agency publications with their own interests and partly small samples (adfera says it evaluates six real projects). Use them as a guide, not as a price list.
What really drives the price
With the default values (industry, 12 pages, 8 page types), three levers change the total the most.
| Technik | Technikfaktor | Stunden | niedrig | typisch | hoch |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Webflow | 1,0 | 263 | 20.000 | 31.500 | 47.500 |
| WordPress | 1,1 | 288 | 22.000 | 34.500 | 52.000 |
| TYPO3 | 1,35 | 349 | 26.500 | 42.000 | 62.500 |
| Headless CMS | 1,6 | 409 | 31.500 | 49.000 | 73.500 |
Design level: Template customization comes to a typical €23,000, custom design to about €31,500, design with motion or 3D to about €42,000. The jump happens because design and development make up the largest share of the hours.
Technology: The factors are assumptions. A Webflow project is not automatically cheaper than a WordPress project. The base of 1.0 for Webflow is a choice made by the site operator, who mostly works with Webflow. If you want a neutral comparison, pick the same technology everywhere in the calculator and look only at the range.
Page types instead of pages: Whether you have 20 or 30 pages changes the price less than the number of page types. Every new type needs design, development and testing. Ten service pages on the same template are cheaper than ten pages with ten layouts.
Industries compared
The answer differs by industry because page types, features and dependence on organic search vary. Industrial companies often need a product catalog and several languages. Real estate needs properties as a collection. Trades get by with a small site. Consulting and law firms need expert profiles, articles and appointment booking.
| Branche | Seiten / Seitentypen | Sprachen | Design | Stunden | niedrig | typisch | hoch |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| IT und Software | 16 / 10 | 2 | individuell | 318 | 24.500 | 38.000 | 57.000 |
| Industrie und Maschinenbau | 12 / 8 | 2 | individuell | 263 | 20.000 | 31.500 | 47.500 |
| Immobilien | 14 / 8 | 1 | individuell | 265 | 20.500 | 32.000 | 48.000 |
| Energie und Nachhaltigkeit | 18 / 10 | 1 | individuell | 307 | 23.500 | 37.000 | 55.500 |
| Mobilität und Luftfahrt | 14 / 9 | 2 | individuell | 297 | 22.500 | 35.500 | 53.500 |
| Handwerk und Gewerbe | 7 / 3 | 1 | Template | 91 | 7.000 | 11.000 | 16.500 |
| Beratung und Kanzleien | 15 / 9 | 1 | individuell | 286 | 22.000 | 34.500 | 51.500 |

Limits of the calculator
- Not a quote: The calculator does not know your project. Briefing, target audience, feedback rounds and content change the total a lot.
- Position within the ranges: The default values are calibrated so that the typical total falls within the published ranges (see table above). For 12 to 18 pages with custom design, it sits in the upper part of the tricks.de range (€20,000 to €40,000) and above the Pragma-Code range for compact presences (€12,000 to €24,000), because the calculator includes concept, redirects, tracking and a second language, which flat-rate quotes often leave out.
- Multilingual: The markup per language is calculated at 25 percent on development, content and collections. In the example, that comes to around 9 percent of the total. Kolonell gives 40 to 60 percent of the budget when localizing for new markets. Translation is a separate item there (€800 to €1,440 per language at 8,000 words, €320 to €640 with AI and post-editing). For specialist copy and local adaptations, your value will be higher.
- Not included: Photography, video, 3D production, copywriting by specialist authors, ongoing support, SEO and content retainers, hosting and licenses. On its pricing page, Webflow lists site plans at 15 to 25 US dollars per month with annual billing, and WordPress hosting is 3 to 25 euros per month according to Hostinger.
- Assumptions with status A: Effort values, technology factors and industry factors are not from a study. There is no dedicated industry source for consulting and law firms.
- Flat factors: The design and technology factors apply to the entire subtotal, including content. That is a simplification.
- No ranking promise: The migration hours reduce the risk of losing visibility. They guarantee nothing.
When you do not need an agency
If your website has fewer than ten pages, you supply copy and images yourself and a solid template is enough, template customization in the calculator (factor 0.7) is the lower limit. Anything below that means building it yourself with a website builder. That works if you have the time, can live with standard layouts and need no connection to other systems. An agency pays off as soon as positioning, multilingual setup, migration with ranking protection or interfaces are involved. How to compare quotes is covered in the guide to comparing quotes, and the difference between fixed price and hourly rate in the article fixed price or hourly rate.
How we implement this
Webwavers is a premium agency for branding, web design and web development and one of seven Webflow Premium Partners in Germany. We also build with WordPress, TYPO3 and headless CMS and advise neutrally on the choice of system. A relaunch typically runs like this: first strategy and concept, then design, then development and launch, each with feedback rounds. We describe the process on the process page, and you will find more on planning in the guide to planning a relaunch and in the relaunch process. If you have a specific project, you can write to us through the contact page.
Frequently asked questions
What does a website relaunch cost for a mid-sized B2B company?
Published ranges for mid-sized companies run from €12,000 to €65,000 (Pragma-Code, 2026). Where you land depends on page types, design, languages and features. The calculator above gives you a range for your inputs that you can compare with quotes.
Are there cheaper alternatives for a relaunch?
Yes, through the levers in the calculator. Template customization instead of custom design lowers the typical total in the example by a good quarter. Fewer page types, existing copy and skipping new branding also help. Work out beforehand what you can leave out without hurting performance or ranking.
How much does a relaunch with several languages cost?
Every additional language raises development, content and upkeep. In the calculator, it is 25 percent on these components. Kolonell gives 40 to 60 percent of the budget per language for localization. Plan translation, review and the hreflang setup separately.
Is Webflow cheaper than WordPress?
Not automatically. In the build, the two are close, with a factor of 1.0 and 1.1 in the calculator. The differences arise in operation: Webflow includes hosting in the site plan, while with WordPress hosting, plugins and maintenance come on top. You can work out operation in the maintenance calculator. A technical comparison is in the article Webflow vs. WordPress.
Are there agencies with a fixed price including hosting and licenses?
Yes. A fixed price gives planning certainty if the scope is described precisely in writing. Check what happens with change requests, how many revision rounds are included and whether hosting and licenses are charged on an ongoing or one-time basis.
What does a small relaunch cost where only the design is refreshed?
With few pages and template customization, the calculation falls in the lower half of the range. With the trades preset (7 pages, 3 page types, template customization), the calculator comes to a typical €11,000, and the range runs from €7,000 to €16,500. For 5 to 10 pages, adfera gives €5,000 to €12,000. The typical total is therefore at the upper end of that range, because concept, redirects and tracking are included in the calculator.
How much effort does SEO protection cost during a relaunch?
The calculator budgets 16 hours plus 0.04 hours per old URL for mapping old to new URLs, crawling and monitoring. For the approach, see relaunch without losing rankings.
