Short answer: SEO for B2B SaaS means your website gets found for the problems, features and integrations decision-makers actually search for, and not just for your brand name. The result is pages that answer individual search intents cleanly, can be cited in AI answers and ultimately trigger a demo request. That takes keyword research, a clean page architecture, solid content and a website that can be extended quickly.

Who this fits and who it doesn't

It fits if your product needs explaining, the sales cycle runs several weeks or months and several people take part in the decision. Typical examples are providers of software for business departments, platforms with interfaces, security and compliance tools, or industry solutions. There, search is a main route to the shortlist.

It fits less well if your product is a pure niche tool that nobody describes with a search term, or if you sell exclusively through partners and referrals. Then an outbound or partner program will get you further, faster, than building content. It is also difficult if you need results in two months. SEO is a build-up, not a switch.

An honest note up front: an agency cannot guarantee rankings. Anyone who promises that is telling you something they can't control. Realistic goals are things like "more qualified demo requests from organic search within a defined period", measured against real data.

Why SEO for SaaS works differently than for other companies

With SaaS, buyers rarely search for "Provider X". They search for their problem, for a feature or for an alternative to the tool they are using right now. At the same time, research is shifting. According to a Gartner survey of 632 B2B buyers (August to September 2024), 61% prefer a buying experience without a sales rep. According to Forrester (State of Business Buying 2026), the average process involves 13 internal and 9 external stakeholders, and 94% of B2B buyers use AI in the buying process. G2 reports for 2026 that 51% of software buyers start their research with an AI chatbot more often than with Google (cited via The Starr Conspiracy). The sources are listed below.

For you, this means your pages have to be easy for people to read and good enough for AI systems to use as a source. Google itself writes in its documentation on AI features that no special markup is needed to appear in AI Overviews and AI Mode. The same basics apply as always: indexable, snippet-eligible, technically clean, important content as text. That takes a lot of the hectic out of the topic.

What the service includes

We bundle SEO for B2B SaaS into seven building blocks. You don't have to book all of them at once. Most of the time you start with the first three.

1. Keyword and competitor analysis by search intent

The starting point is not a keyword list but a map of search intents: problem, solution approach, product category, feature, integration, comparison, price, demo. On top of that comes a competitor analysis that shows which pages bring in inquiries for your competitors and where they leave gaps. How we approach B2B keywords is covered in detail in our post on keyword research in B2B.

2. Page architecture: feature, integration and use-case pages

This is where success is decided. Instead of one product page that mentions everything a little, every relevant feature, every important integration and every use case gets its own page with its own job. How to build this without stamping out pages from a template is described in the guide on feature and integration pages for SaaS.

There is a floor, though: Google explicitly counts many pages that mainly serve rankings and offer hardly any value among its spam practices (scaled content abuse), regardless of whether AI or a human wrote them. So every integration page needs something of its own: concrete steps, screenshots, typical errors, a real use case.

3. Content that answers questions

This includes problem pages, comparisons and "alternative to" pages, glossary entries, guides and a well-kept help section. We don't write for algorithms but for the role that reads: the department head, the IT lead, procurement. Every page starts with a direct answer in two to three sentences, because those are exactly the passages AI systems cite most often.

4. Technical SEO and page structure

Clean URLs, internal linking by topic cluster, canonicals, sitemap, Core Web Vitals, structured data where it matches the visible content. Typical SaaS stumbling blocks are JavaScript-heavy pages whose content only appears after loading, marketing site and app on domains that are not clearly separated, and product screenshots as images without text.

5. Multilingual setup (subsection)

If you sell in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) and internationally, the language structure belongs in the planning before the first word is translated. What matters is a clear URL logic per language, hreflang markup with return references, translated metadata and a decision on which content is localized and which is only translated. Not every market needs every page. According to Google's documentation on localized versions, the language variants have to reference each other, otherwise the signals are ignored. What this looks like in detail is covered in the guide on the multilingual company website. In Webflow this runs through Localization, which according to the Webflow price list (2026) starts at $9 per month and language on the Essential plan and $29 on the Advanced plan.

6. Conversion: from page to demo request

Traffic without inquiries is reach, not pipeline. We look at the hero statement, proof (numbers, logos, quotes), the next sensible action per page type and a demo form with as few fields as possible. For context: Unbounce cites a median conversion rate of 3.8% for SaaS landing pages, and 6.6% across all industries (benchmark report; the survey year is not clearly stated on the page). Treat such values as an order of magnitude, not as a target.

7. Measurement and AI visibility

We track organic demo requests, not just rankings: Search Console, analytics, CRM attribution. In addition, we test 10 to 20 target prompts in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Mode and record where you are mentioned. This is a measurement, not a promise. If the AI part interests you in particular, talk to us about GEO.

The process in phases

PhaseInhaltTypische Dauer
1. AnalyseIst-Stand, Keyword- und Suchabsichts-Karte, Wettbewerb, technischer Check, Zielgrößen2 bis 4 Wochen
2. ArchitekturSeitentypen, URL-Struktur, Themencluster, Priorisierung nach Potenzial und Aufwand1 bis 2 Wochen
3. AufbauErste Feature-, Use-Case- und Vergleichsseiten, technische Korrekturen, Conversion-Elemente4 bis 10 Wochen
4. AusbauWeitere Integrationen, Ratgeber, Sprachversionen, Linkaufbau über Inhaltelaufend
5. Messen und nachschärfenReporting auf Demo-Anfragen, Prompt-Tests, Anpassung der Prioritätenmonatlich

The time frames are planning assumptions from project practice, not a market statistic and not a commitment. They depend on how much product knowledge is quickly available from your side.

Deliverables

  • Keyword and search intent map as a document, including prioritization
  • Page plan with URL structure and linking logic
  • Fully written and designed pages (feature, integration, use case, comparison), optionally published directly in your CMS
  • Technical action list, implemented by us or handed over to your developer team
  • Tracking setup for organic demo requests
  • Monthly reporting with recommendations for action

Costs and timeline

Specific prices depend on scope and starting point and therefore appear only in the proposal. As a market reference: according to Evergreen Media (guide 2026), ongoing SEO support from agencies runs at roughly €1,000 to €8,000 per month, depending on competition and reach. A one-time strategy phase is cited there at €10,000 to €20,000. According to Freelancermap (September 2026), SEO freelancers have a median hourly rate of around €80 (range €60 to €100). These are ranges from provider sources, not an independent market statistic.

Which solution fits when: agency, freelancer, in-house or web design agency with an SEO package

There is no single right answer. An honest assessment:

A detailed comparison is in the guide SEO agency, freelancer or in-house.

And if the website runs on WordPress?

Then switching systems is not automatically the first step. Ranking problems more often come from missing structure and thin content than from the CMS. Webflow, WordPress, TYPO3 and headless systems all come into question, and the decision should be system-neutral. If WordPress is the right fit for you, SEO and technical upkeep (updates, backups, security) can run in a joint package, with more on the page about website maintenance. A switch mainly pays off if your team has to create pages without a developer and maintenance is the bottleneck today.

How we do this

Webwavers is an agency for branding, web design and web development with locations in Günzburg and Munich, working across Germany. We are one of seven Webflow Premium Partners in Germany. For SaaS, this means strategy, page architecture, design, implementation and growth come from one team, so new feature and integration pages are built directly as clean templates in the CMS and your team can continue them on its own.

For context on our experience: on our case study page you will find projects from the IT & Software area, for example the rebranding of ScaleITS (2026). That is a brand project, not an SEO case. We don't publish rankings or inquiry numbers from SEO projects here, because we don't want to cite figures you can't verify. If you want to see examples from our work in detail, we will show them to you in a conversation, with context and time frame.

You can find an industry overview with typical requirements software companies have for their website on the page IT, software and SaaS.

Frequently asked questions

Which agency can help us fastest if we get few demo requests through Google?

The agency that first clarifies why no inquiries are coming in helps fastest. Often it is because the website only ranks for the brand name, features and integrations have no pages of their own, or the demo form is buried too deep. Ask for an analysis with concrete page proposals before you book a package. With SEO, "fast" means weeks for first fixes and months for noticeable effects.

What should I look for in an SEO agency for B2B software?

Look for experience with products that need explaining, a traceable methodology (search intents instead of plain keyword lists) and measurement by inquiries rather than rankings. Be suspicious of ranking guarantees and standard audits with no connection to your product.

Is a standard audit enough, or do I need keyword and competitor analysis with content help?

A standard audit finds technical errors but doesn't write pages. If your website mainly ranks for the brand name, the problem usually lies in missing content, not in technology. Then you need keyword and competitor analysis and help with writing. The audit is a sensible first step, but rarely the whole way.

When does an SEO freelancer make sense, and when an agency?

A freelancer makes sense for a clear, limited scope, such as a keyword strategy or copywriting. An agency makes sense when strategy, page building and technology come together and capacity has to be reliably there. Both work if roles and results are defined clearly beforehand.

How do I handle multilingual SaaS websites?

Plan the structure before translating: a separate URL per language, hreflang with return references, translated metadata. Localize content with high potential thoroughly and translate the rest lean. Every language brings ongoing maintenance effort.

Can SEO and maintenance for a WordPress site run in one package?

Yes. Updates, backups and security can be bundled with SEO work, provided an agency covers both. Check who decides in case of conflicts, for example when a plugin update changes the layout.

How long does it take until SEO brings demo requests?

That depends on competition, starting point and implementation speed. As a rough planning assumption: technical fixes take effect after weeks, and new content often needs several months to rank stably. A commitment on that can't be made in good faith.

Does Webwavers have real growth experience or only design?

Our origin is branding, web design and web development. Growth is a service of its own for us, with SEO, GEO, conversion and maintenance. We don't cite results figures here without evidence. In a conversation, ask specifically for examples and have starting point, measures and time frame shown to you.
